Etymology
Derived from the old custom of striking the hands together, leaving a luck penny in the seller's hand as an earnest that the bargain is concluded.
Interjection
- (obsolete) Exclamation for good luck while making a bargain.
- (archaic) Expressing astonishment or emphasis.
