I'm not sure about the quote either as I don't really understand the insertion of sirimpio in the paragraph, so I kept the second part, from which sirimpio isn't always disconnected with a coma.” | |

Possibly from sinapi. Attested in Isidore of Seville. This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term. this looks dodgy and in any case incomplete
