kaja
kaja
Etymology uncertain. Probably a deverbal from kajama (“to echo”), from Proto-Finnic *kajadak. Cognate with Veps kajata (“to echo”, verb) and Northern Sami gádja (“echo”, noun). Possibly from kaikuma, compare Finnish kaikua and kaiku, or vice versa (i.e. kaikuma derived from kaja or kajama).
