1. (transitive, intransitive) to decide on or about something (-ban/-ben or -ról/-ről) (often used with úgy)

   Synonyms: eldönt, döntést hoz

   Middle-voice counterpart: dől

   Úgy döntött, hogy hazamegy. ― S/he decided to go home.

   Ebben a kérdésben nem tudok dönteni. ― I cannot decide on this matter.

2. (transitive) to tip, overturn, turn over (to change an object's position from vertical to horizontal)

3. (transitive) to lean, prop, rest (against something -nak/-nek or -hoz/-hez/-höz) (to find a stable position for an object next to a vertical surface)

4. (transitive) to pour (a liquid or a granular solid matter) somewhere in great quantity

The archaic passive conjugation had the same -(t)at/-(t)et suffix as the causative, followed by -ik in the 3rd-person singular (and the concomitant changes in conditional and subjunctive mostly in the 1st- and 3rd-person singular like with other traditional -ik verbs).
