Rogen (plural Rogens)
From Middle High German rogen and roge, from Old High German rogan, rogin, *hrogan and rogo (“roe”), from Proto-Germanic *hrugnaz and *hrugô (“roe”). Of uncertain origin, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *krek- (“frogspawn”). Compare Low German Rögen, Dutch roge, English roe, Danish rogn. More at roe.
