From Turkish Nusaybin and Ottoman Turkish نصیبین (Nusaybin), from Arabic نُصَيْبِين (Nuṣaybīn), from Classical Syriac ܢܨܝܒܝܢ (Nəṣībīn), an Old Aramaic 2nd millennium BC plural formation from ܢܨܝܒ (nəṣīḇ, “planted, erected”, adjective), from the root ܢ-ܨ-ܒ (n-ṣ-b) cognate with Arabic ن ص ب (n-ṣ-b).
