Kleister
From northern Middle High German klīster, an originally Central German word, possibly from Old High German *klīstar, from Proto-West Germanic *klīstr, from Proto-Germanic *klīstrą (“paste, goo”), ultimately from the root of Klei (“clay”). Cognate with German Low German Kliester, Dutch klijster, Saterland Frisian Klíester, Scots cleester. Related also to English clay.
Compare also Middle High German klenster, which may have merged with the above.
Kleister m (strong, genitive Kleisters, plural Kleister)
