From Cornish Syllan, from British Latin (Insulae) Sillinae, Silina, Siluruni, found in Ancient Greek as Σίλυρες (Sílures), Σύρινες (Súrines), of uncertain origin, but suggested by some to be from solis insulae (“isles of the sun”).[1]
