Accum n (proper noun, genitive Accums or (optionally with an article) Accum)
Coined in 1755 by Markus Herz, father of Friedrich Accum, as his new surname when he converted from Judaism to Christianity. From Hebrew עכו״ם (“heathen, non-Jew”). Spelling influence by, or even a pun on, the placenames under etymology 1 is possible as the family was from northwestern Germany (though not from the immediate neighbourhood of East Frisia).
Accum m or f (proper noun, strong, genitive Accums or (with an article) Accum, plural Accums or Accum)
