Rebracketed from -ня (-nja) attached to stems ending in л; compare маслоде́льня (maslodélʹnja, “creamery”) from ма́сло (máslo, “butter”) + -о- (-o-) + де́лать (délatʹ, “to make”) + -ня (-nja), and similarly мукомо́льня (mukomólʹnja, “flour mill”) (based on мука́ (muká, “flour”) and моло́ть (molótʹ, “to mill”)) and сукнова́льня (suknoválʹnja, “fullery”) (based on сукно́ (suknó, “broadcloth”) and валя́ть (valjátʹ, “to roll”)).
