- A diacritical mark of the Greek script, called ψιλή (psilḗ, “smooth”) in Ancient Greek, and found on Ἀ (Ἀ)/ἀ (ἀ), Ἐ (Ἐ)/ἐ (ἐ), Ἠ (Ἠ)/ἠ (ἠ), Ἰ (Ἰ)/ἰ (ἰ), Ὀ (Ὀ)/ὀ (ὀ), Υ̓/ὐ (ὐ) and Ὠ (Ὠ)/ὠ (ὠ). It is also known by its Latin name spīritus lēnis or the English name smooth breathing. It is used to indicate a word-initial vowel.
