From Sanskrit प्रधानाधिपति (pradhānādhipati, literally “presiding overlord”), from प्रधान (pradhāna, literally “presiding; leading; chief; etc”) + अधिपति (adhipati, literally “overlord”); equivalent to Thai ประธาน (bprà-taan) + อธิบดี (à-típ-bɔɔ-dii). Cognate with Khmer ប្រធានាធិបតី (prɑthiəniəthɨppaʼdəy). Compare Pali padhānādhipati, from which Thai ปธานาธิบดี is derived.
