Inherited from Sanskrit गान (gāna). Cognate with Assamese গান (gan), Bengali গান (gan), Gujarati ગાણું (gāṇũ), Marathi गाणे (gāṇe), Punjabi ਗਾਣਾ (gāṇā). Doublet of गान (gān), a tatsama.
