Derived from a Turkic language. Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ič (“interior; inner”) and Proto-Turkic *tōn (“clothing, garment”). Compare Tatar ыштан (ıştan) and Crimean Tatar ıştan, ştan and Kazakh ыштан (yştan), all with the same meaning.
