From Proto-Slavic *sъ(n)-, from *sъ(n), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱom. The /n/ persists in сънѧти (sŭnęti), from ѧти (ęti, “to take”). Compare the analogous loss of -n- in въ- (vŭ-).
Not to be confused with Proto-Slavic *sъ- (“good”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁su-.
