Learnedly, from Hellenistic Koine Greek πρωτομάρτυρα (prōtomártura), accusative singular of πρωτομάρτυς (prōtomártus).[1] By surface analysis, πρωτο- (“first”) + μάρτυρας (“martyr; witness”).
