Vráž lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north of Písek, 52 km (32 mi) north-west of České Budějovice, and 82 km (51 mi) south of Prague.
The municipality is made up of the villages of Jistec, Nová Vráž and Stará Vráž.
