In her youth, she played for Deeside Netball Club.[3]

In 1999, Bowers represented Wales at the Fena Open Championship in Malta and played in 9 of 10 world championship matches in New Zealand.[2] In 2001, she spent a year in New Zealand playing for Canterbury Flames.[4]

She captained Team Bath in the 2006 Netball Super League (the first season since establishment in 2005),[5][failed verification] leading the team to victory of 43–35 in the final against Galleria Mavericks.[6][7] This win was repeated in 2007 (53–45),[8] her second year of captaincy,[citation needed] making Team Bath one of only four teams to win the league in successive years.[5] In both years she played Goal Defence.

In 2006, she represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games hosted in Melbourne, Australia.[9]
