The Company (stylized as The CompanY) is a Filipino vocal group since 1985. The current members are Moy Ortiz, Annie Quintos, Sweet Plantado and OJ Mariano.

History

The original members of The CompanY were members of the 1981 and 1983 touring batches of the Ateneo College Glee Club (ACGC). Their musical director, Moy Ortiz, named the group after Stephen Sondheim's musical Company. The group focused on contemporary jazz and a cappella music, instead of songs from the classical and traditional choral music repertoire that they performed under the ACGC.[1]

The group scored their first hit with the single "Everlasting Love", which Ortiz co-wrote with Luigi de Dios and Rina Caniza.[2] In 1990, the group - consisting of Ortiz, Annie Quintos, Tom Calisterio, Meus Bartolome, Arsenio Cruz, Kathleen Ng, Andre Castillo and Mary Anne Morales - released their debut album The CompanY: Eight by 8 by Universal Records. In 1991 from The CompanY added the new members are Reuben Laurente and Cecile Bautista replacing Arsenio Cruz and Kathleen Ng, The second album is "Yon Na" under by Ivory Records. The CompanY was last appearances Tom Calisterio and Mary Anne Morales. The group scored two hits in 1992, "Muntik na Kitang Minahal" (I Almost Loved You) and "Now That I Have You", from their third album Sixby6, meanwhile Meus Bartolome was last appearance by the CompanY until 1993 and was replaced by Febe Magbanua. That same year, the group performed in their major concert with the Manhattan Transfer at the Araneta Coliseum.[2]

In 2001, The Company are newest member Sweet Plantado replacing Febe Magbanua is their album "Storybook" by Viva Records, In 2005 the last appearance and artist of the company member was Reuben Laurente it was replaced by Jay Marquez and Andre Castillo as the last artist at the end of January 2006.

In 2014, The Company welcomed OJ Mariano as their newest member, replacing Jay Marquez.[3]

In 2019, The CompanY members as the last artist of Cecile Bautista, now became a final four members are OJ Mariano, Moy Ortiz, Sweet Plantado and Annie Quintos.

In The Company's existence in the music industry, the group made their distinct sound with the influence of different artists and groups, such as Pentatonix, The Manhattan Transfer, New York Voices, The Singers Unlimited, The Carpenters, Swingle Singers, Swing Out Sister, Pizzicato Five, Burt Bacharach, Take 6, First Call, Fifth Dimension, Jimmy Webb, Paul Williams, The Corrs, and Destiny's Child.[4]
