Tarasovsky District (Russian: Тара́совский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,767.47 square kilometers (1,068.53 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement) of Tarasovsky.[1] Population: 29,802 (2010 Census);[3] 32,608 (2002 Census);[6] 33,639 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of the administrative center accounts for 30.3% of the district's total population.[3]
