Tabriz County (Persian: شهرستان تبریز) is in East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Tabriz.[4]

History
The new city of Shahr-e Jadid-e Shahriar was formed in 2015.[5] In 2021, Meydan Chay Rural District and the city of Basmenj were separated from the Central District in the formation of Basmenj District, including the new Mehranrud Rural District.[6] The villages of Esfahlan and Lahijan were converted to cities in 2023.[7]

Population
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 1,557,241 in 423,775 households.[8] The following census in 2011 counted 1,695,094 people in 513,142 households.[9] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 1,773,033 in 563,660 households.[3]
