Company history

TYR was founded in Huntington Beach, California by Joseph DiLorenzo and Steve Furniss in 1985.^[2]

The name TYR is a reference to the Norse god Týr.^[3]

Sponsorship

TYR sponsors many professional athletes; it dubs them Team TYR,^[4] as well as the national swimming teams in the U.S.^[5] and in Singapore.^[6] In 2018, TYR bought the title rights to USA Swimming's domestic circuit, the Pro Swim Series.^[2][7] In seasons 8 to 11 of Baywatch, the TYR logo appeared on each female lifeguard's bathing suits.
