Sumit Wankhede (born 1984)[1] is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. He is an MLA from Arvi Assembly constituency in Wardha district. He won the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election representing the Bharatiya Janata Party.[2]
Wankhede is from Arvi, Wardha district, Maharashtra. He is the son of Kishor Wankhede. He completed his graduation in engineering at the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering, Aalandi road, Pune, which is affiliated with Pune University, Pune in 2007.[1] He also has a post graduate degree in governance. He worked as a personal assistant to the then deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and made his successful electoral debut in 2024 election.[3]
Wankhede won from Arvi Assembly constituency representing the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election. He polled 101,397 votes and defeated his nearest rival, Mayura Amar Kale of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP), by a margin of 39,574 votes.[4][5] He was in-charge of BJP's Lok Sabha elections in Wardha district.[3]
