Shigonsky District

Shigonsky District (Russian: Шиго́нский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Samara Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,134.4 square kilometers (824.1 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Shigony.[2] Population: 21,002 (2010 Census);[3] 23,596 (2002 Census);[7] 26,001 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of the administrative center accounts for 23.7% of the district's total population.[3]
