Shariq Hassan

Shariq Hassan (born 7 December 1994) is an Indian actor who predominantly appears in Tamil films and television shows. He played the role of villain in the 2016 film Pencil.^[2] He is known for participating in Bigg Boss 2.

Personal life

Shariq Hassan was born on 7 December 1994,^[3] in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of Indian actor Riyaz Khan and actress Uma Riyaz Khan.^[4][5] He attended A V Meiyappan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, completing his school at 12 grade and later graduated high school.^{[citation needed]}

On 8 August 2024, Shariq married his longterm girlfriend Maria Jennifer in a traditional christian wedding.^[6][7]

Career

Hassan debuted in the 2016 Tamil film Pencil.^[8] Regarding his performance, several critics felt that he was one of the film's highlights.^[9][10] He made his television debut in 2018 when he joined the second season of Bigg Boss as a contestant; he was evicted from the show on the 49th day.^[11][12] In 2018, he signed up for the film Uggramm (still unreleased),^[13] and in 2020 for Jigiri Dosthu,^[14][15] which released in December 2023.^[16][17] In 2021, Hassan participated in the dance competition BB Jodigal, which aired on Star Vijay, and his duet with Anitha Sampath won the show.^[18] In 2022, he signed up for another film with Vishnu Vishal, Mohandas.^[19][20] In 2024, he starred in Netru Indha Neram as the lead.^[21]
