Sena II was a Sinhala King of Anuradhapura in the 9th century, whose reign lasted from 853 to 887. He succeeded his uncle Sena I as King of Anuradhapura and was succeeded by his brother Udaya I.

According to Mahavamsa, lost treasures during Sena I's reign to Pandyan invaders were restored by King Sena II. He readied a large army for retribution for the invasion during the time of King Sena I. Sena II sent a large force under his Commander to besiege Madura, capture it and install the Pandyan prince. Madura was duly captured The Commander recovered all the treasures lost from Sri Lanka and returned to Ceylon. He brought back the POWs from the pandyan invasion of Anuradhapura during the time of Sena I.
Sinhala troops, led by the valiant Kuttaka Senapati, marched into the heart of the Pandya Kingdom, the magnificent city of Madurai. Desperate to save his capital, the Pandya king rushed to Madurai, only to find that it was too late—the Sinhala forces had already taken control. [1]
A fierce battle ensued, with the Sinhalese emerging victorious. The once-mighty Pandya king succumbed to his to his wounds, marking the end of his reign.[1]
The triumphant Sinhala troops then proceeded to exact their revenge, looting Madurai and reclaiming the riches that had been stolen from Anuradhapura two decades earlier. In a dramatic conclusion, Kuttaka Senapati crowned Prince Varaguna as the new king of the Pandyas. [1]
King Sena II secured the country against another Pandya invasion. He restored and built new tanks, revived Buddhist festivals and repaired Temples and made liberal offerings to them.[1]
