Scorch first appeared in Superman (vol. 2) #160 and was created by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness.
Aubrey Sparks is a civilian who gains pyrokinetic abilities and becomes a supervillain after the Joker gains Mister Mxyzptlk's powers and creates a warped alternate universe.[1] After the Joker is defeated, Mxyzptlk preserves Scorch, among others, by transporting them to the main universe.[2][3]
Scorch later helps Martian Manhunter overcome his weakness to fire, but inadvertently releases his repressed Fernus personality. Later, it is revealed that the Oans transformed the Martians into their current forms to prevent them from attacking other planets. Fernus attacks Scorch and renders her comatose.[4]
In Infinite Crisis, Scorch resurfaces and joins Alexander Luthor Jr.'s Secret Society of Super Villains.[5][6][7]
Scorch is a metahuman who can create, manipulate, and absorb fire. This also enables her to teleport via flame.
Scorch makes non-speaking cameo appearances in DC Super Hero Girls as a student of Super Hero High.
