Rubtsovsky District

Rubtsovsky District (Russian: Рубцо́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the krai. The area of the district is 3,339 square kilometers (1,289 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the city of Rubtsovsk (which is not administratively a part of the district).[1] Population: 24,556 (2010 Census);[3] 26,407 (2002 Census);[6] 26,060 (1989 Soviet census).[7]

Administrative and municipal status
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Rubtsovsky District is one of the fifty-nine in the krai.[1] The city of Rubtsovsk serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a city of krai significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[1]
As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Rubtsovsky Municipal District.[4] The city of krai significance of Rubtsovsk is incorporated separately from the district as Rubtsovsk Urban Okrug.[8]
