The St. Petersburg Times noted that "Rebel Music is charming and straightforward, although its actual rebelliousness quota amounts to little more than advocating occasional jaywalking."[4]
The album contains four singles which charted in several countries: "Just Keep Rockin'" (with Double Trouble; UK No. 11,[5] Belgium No. 14,[6] Netherlands No. 3),[7] "Street Tuff" (also with Double Trouble; UK No. 3,[5] Australia No. 85, Belgium No. 7,[6] Netherlands No. 3,[7] New Zealand No. 29,[8] Sweden No. 12),[9] "Better World" (UK No. 20,[5] Belgium No. 22,[6] Netherlands No. 14,[7] New Zealand No. 4)[8] and the title track "Rebel Music" (UK No. 53,[5] Netherlands No. 84,[7] New Zealand No. 15).[8]
