Omega1 Cygni

Omega¹ Cygni, Latinized from ω¹ Cygni, is the Bayer designation for a solitary^[14] star in the northern constellation of Cygnus. It is visible to the naked eye with an apparent visual magnitude of 4.94.^[5] Based upon an annual parallax shift of 2.59 mas,^[8] it is estimated to lie roughly 1,260 light years from the Sun. Relative to its neighbors, this star has a peculiar velocity of 25.7±2.2 km/s.^[7]

This is a somewhat evolved B-type subgiant star with a stellar classification of B2.5 IV.^[4] Telting and colleagues report it as a Beta Cephei variable with a high degree of confidence as they found regular pulsations in its spectrum in a high-resolution spectroscopy study published in 2006.^[6] Its brightness varies irregularly by 0.034 magnitude every 1.137 days.^[15]
