Born in Zeeland,[2] de Groot began his career at FC Den Bosch at the age of 8,[3] turning professional in February 2022,[4] and scoring his first goal for the club in May 2023.[3] In November 2023 he signed a new contract with the club, until 2027.[5][6][7][8]
