Michael Arias

Michael Alexander Arias (born November 15, 2001) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Arias signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as an international free agent on July 5, 2018. He was an infielder in the Blue Jays organization, but did not play in a game for the organization in 2018 or 2019, and missed the 2020 campaign after it was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] Arias was released by Toronto on May 29, 2020.

On January 15, 2021, Arias signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs and was converted into a pitcher.

On November 14, 2023, the Cubs added Arias to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.[2] He was optioned to the Double–A Tennessee Smokies to begin the 2024 season.[3] In 49 appearances split between Tennessee and the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, Arias accumulated a 6-2 record and 4.77 ERA with 72 strikeouts and 5 saves across 60+13 innings pitched. On January 13, 2025, Arias was designated for assignment by the Cubs.[4]

On January 15, 2025, Arias was traded to the New York Yankees in exchange for cash considerations.[5] He was optioned to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to begin the 2025 season.[6]

Roderick Arias

Arias was ranked as the top international free agent in the 2022 class.[7] He signed with the New York Yankees in January 2022 for $4 million.[8]

Arias made his professional debut in 2022 with the Dominican Summer League Yankees, and played 2023 with the Florida Complex League Yankees.[9]

Edgar Barclay

Sean Boyle

Sean Boyle (born October 29, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Yankees organization.

Boyle grew up in Selden, New York and attended Newfield High School. He did not play baseball until his junior year at Newfield. Boyle began his college baseball career at Suffolk County Community College, playing for two seasons before transferring to Dallas Baptist University.[12] As a senior for the Dallas Baptist Patriots, Boyle made 21 appearances with two starts and went 1–1 with a 3.60 ERA and 40 strikeouts over 35 innings pitched.[13]

The New York Yankees selected Boyle in the 25th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with the team and received a $10,000 signing bonus. After signing with the team Boyle was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Yankees as a reliever and struck out 20 batters over 15 innings pitched.[14]

He began the 2019 season with the Pulaski Yankees before earning a promotion to the Class A Short Season Staten Island Yankees after posting a 1.88 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 28+23 innings pitched.[15]

Boyle did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He began the 2021 season with the Low-A Tampa Tarpons, where he began to transition from a reliever to a starter before being promoted to the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades where in his first start, threw a combined no-hitter for Hudson Valley Renegades, their first in 20 years. He then was promoted to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.[16] where in his first start in AAA, threw a complete game no-hitter against the WooSox in their new stadium. Boyle was named AAA International League pitcher of the week for the week of 9/22/21. Boyle had risen through 4 levels of the minor leagues in 2021 and threw 2 no-hitters that year. Boyle was later sent to the Double-A Somerset Patriots before being assigned back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.[17]

To begin 2022, he pitched 2 innings in the March 20 Yankees Spring Training game, allowing no runs. To start the 2022 season he was assigned to AA Somerset in order to get more innings for his continued conversion to a full time starting pitcher. He was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for 7/17 and Eastern League of the Month for July.[18] He was also named 2022 Pitcher of the year [19] voted by Somerset fans. Boyle had a record 10 straight quality starts at AA Somerset, the longest streak by any minor leaguer since 2019 before he was promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the beginning of August.[20] In 2022, Boyle ranked second of all minor league pitchers with 155+13 innings pitched, third with 13 wins, and fourth with 160 strikeouts.[21]

Kyle Carr

Kyle Isiah Carr (born May 6, 2002) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees organization.

Carr attended San Marcos High School in San Marcos, California, where he played for the school's baseball team as a two-way player. He had Tommy John surgery in October 2020. Carr pitched to a 12–1 win–loss record with a 2.31 earned run average (ERA) and 111 strikeouts in 78 innings pitched.[22]

Carr enrolled at the University of San Diego to play college baseball for the San Diego Toreros. He took a redshirt in 2021. In 2022, he had a 6.19 ERA in 16 innings pitched and batted 2-for-14 (.143) as a designated hitter. He broke a hand in February 2022.[22] In 2022, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[23] He transferred to Palomar College for the 2023 college season.[24] For Palomar, he had a 12–1 record and a 2.31 ERA.[25] Carr committed to transfer to Texas Christian University for the 2024 season.[22]

The Yankees selected him in the third round of the 2023 MLB draft.[26] In 2024, he played for the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class A-Advanced South Atlantic League.[27]

Carson Coleman

Carson Cavanagh Coleman (born April 7, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Yankees organization.

Coleman attended Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington, Kentucky and played college baseball at the University of Kentucky. In 2018 and 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[28][29] He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 33rd round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign and returned to Kentucky for another season.[30] He signed with the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent after he was not selected in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft, which was shortened because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[31][32]

Coleman spent his professional debut season of 2021 with the Tampa Tarpons, going 2–3 with a 6.11 ERA and 49 strikeouts over 35+13 innings.[33] He split the 2022 season between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Somerset Patriots, going a combined 2–3 with a 2.13 ERA and 95 strikeouts over 63+13 innings.[34] Coleman underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2023, and missed the entire season.[35]

On December 6, 2023, Coleman was selected by the Texas Rangers in the Rule 5 draft.[36] He did not appear for the organization as he continued to recover from surgery.

On November 19, 2024, Coleman was returned to the New York Yankees organization.[37]

Bryce Cunningham

Cunningham attended Headland High School in Headland, Alabama. As a senior in 2021, he had a 0.76 earned run average (ERA) with 77 strikeouts over 46 innings.[38] Cunningham played college baseball at Vanderbilt University from 2022 to 2024.[39][40] During his college career he started 26 of 46 games, going 11-8 with a 4.95 ERA and 168 strikeouts over 160 innings.[41]

Cunningham was selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.[42][43] He made his professional debut in 2025 with the Hudson Valley Renegades.

Elijah Dunham

Dunham attended FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana and played college baseball at Indiana University. As a sophomore at Indiana in 2019, he batted .310 with eight home runs, 29 RBIs, and 44 runs scored over 43 games.[44] After the season, he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 40th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft but did not sign.[45][46] He started all 15 games as a junior in which he batted .390 before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[47] He went unselected in the shortened 2020 Major League Baseball draft, and signed with the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent.[48][49][50]

Dunham made his professional debut in 2021 with the Tampa Tarpons of the Low-A Southeast and was promoted to the Hudson Valley Renegades of the High-A East in June.[51] Over 93 games between the two clubs, Dunham slashed .263/.362/.463 with 13 home runs, 57 RBIs, 25 doubles and 28 stolen bases.[52] Following the season's end, he was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) for the Surprise Saguaros where he was named to the Fall Stars game.[53][54] Dunham ended the AFL hitting .357/.465/.571 with two home runs and 11 stolen bases over 23 games, earning himself the Breakout Player of the Year award.[55] For the 2022 season, he was assigned to the Somerset Patriots of the Double-A Eastern League.[56] Over 110 games, he slashed .248/.348/.448 with 17 home runs, 63 RBIs, and 37 stolen bases.[57] To open the 2023 season, he was assigned to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of the Triple-A International League.[58] Dunham struggled with the RailRaiders and was reassigned to Somerset in early July, with whom he finished the season. Over 125 games played between the two teams, he hit .227 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases.[59]

Rafael Flores

Flores attended Katella High School in Anaheim, California, and Rio Hondo College.[60] He went unselected in the 2022 MLB draft. While he played collegiate summer baseball for the Alaska Goldpanners of the Alaska Baseball League, the New York Yankees signed Flores to a professional contract in July 2022.[61]

After signing, Flores appeared in four games for the FCL Yankees in the 2022 season. He played for the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2023[62] and for Hudson Valley and the Somerset Patriots in 2024.[60] Baseball America named Flores the Yankees' Minor League Player of the Year for 2024.[63]

Zach Greene

Greene attended Atlantic Coast High School and St. Johns River State College. He was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 15th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.[64] Instead of signing, he transferred to the University of South Alabama,[65] where he was named a second-team All-American. The New York Yankees selected Greene in the eighth round, 255th overall, in the 2019 MLB draft.[66]

The New York Mets selected Greene from the Yankees in the 2022 Rule 5 draft.[67] On March 12, 2023, Greene was removed from the 40-man roster and placed on outright waivers.[68] Greene was returned to the Yankees organization on March 14.[69]

Chase Hampton

Hampton attended Kilgore High School in Kilgore, Texas. During his high school career, he was 22–5 with a 1.94 earned run average (ERA) and 284 strikeouts.[70] After high school, he played college baseball at Texas Tech University. In 2021, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[71] After two years at Texas Tech, he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[72][73]

Hampton made his professional debut in 2023 with the Hudson Valley Renegades.

On February 21, 2025, Hampton underwent Tommy John surgery and was ruled out for the entirety of the 2025 season.[74]

Tyler Hardman

Hardman attended Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore, California. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 37th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma.[75][76] In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where he was named a league all-star and won the league's annual home run derby.[77] After four years at Oklahoma, during which he slashed .311/.392/.497, he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB draft, and signed.[78][79]

Hardman spent his first professional season with the Florida Complex League Yankees and Tampa Tarpons. He played 2022 with Hudson Valley Renegades and Somerset Patriots.[80] After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League.[81]

Griffin Herring

Herring attended Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas. As a senior in 2022, he was the The Dallas Morning News Baseball Player of the Year after going 13–1 with a 0.24 earned run average (ERA) and 145 strikeouts over 87 innings.[82] Herring played college baseball at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he was a relief pitcher.[83]

Herring was selected by the New York Yankees in the six round of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.[84] The Yankees converted him into a starting pitcher and he made his professional debut in 2025 with the Tampa Tarpons.

Henry Lalane

Lalane was born in The Bronx, New York and moved to the Dominican Republic when he was young.[85] He signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent in May 2021.[86]

Lalane made his professional debut in 2021 with the Dominican Summer League Yankees and also pitched 2022 with them. In 2023, he played for the Florida Complex League Yankees.

Justin Lange

Lange attended Llano High School in Llano, Texas, where he played baseball.[87][88] He committed to play college baseball at Dallas Baptist University.[89] Lange was selected by the San Diego Padres with the 34th overall pick in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.[90][91] Lange signed with the Padres on June 24 for a $2 million bonus.[92]

Lange did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.[93] He made his professional debut in 2021 with the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Padres.[94] Over nine starts, he pitched to a 0–3 record, a 6.95 ERA, 29 strikeouts, and 15 walks over 22 innings.[95]

On March 18, 2022, the Padres traded Lange to the New York Yankees for Luke Voit.[96]

George Lombard Jr.

Lombard attended Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest, Florida. He played for the school's baseball and soccer teams, winning state championships in both sports.[97] Lombard committed to attend Vanderbilt University to play college baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. The New York Yankees selected him in the first round of the 2023 MLB draft.[98] He signed with the Yankees, reportedly receiving a $3.3 million signing bonus.[99]

In 2024, Lombard played for the Tampa Tarpons and the Hudson Valley Renegades.[100][101]

Lombard is the son of Detroit Tigers bench coach George Lombard. His brother, Jacob, is also an athlete at Gulliver.[97]

Brando Mayea

Jesús Rodríguez

On July 2, 2018, Rodríguez signed with the Yankees as an international free agent.[105] He made his professional debut in 2019 with the Dominican Summer League Yankees. Rodríguez did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[106]

Rodríguez returned to action in 2021 with the DSL Yankees, hitting .294/.397/.413 with no home runs, 22 RBI, and eight stolen bases across 39 appearances.[107] He spent the 2022 campaign with the rookie–level Florida Complex League Yankees, playing in 37 games and batting .349/.434/.576 with four home runs, 24 RBI, and eight stolen bases.[108] Rodríguez split 2023 between the Single–A Tampa Tarpons and High–A Hudson Valley Renegades. In 109 games for the two affiliates, he slashed .310/.399/.450 with career–highs in home runs (9), RBI (62), and stolen bases (21).[109]

In 2024, Rodríguez played in 79 games split between High–A Hudson Valley and the Double–A Somerset Patriots, slashing .302/.375/.481 with 10 home runs, 47 RBI, and nine stolen bases. Following the season, the Yankees added Rodríguez to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.[37]

Rodríguez was optioned to Double-A Somerset to begin the 2025 season.[110]

Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz

Rodriguez-Cruz attended Leadership Christian Academy in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.[111] He spent his first professional season in 2022 with the Florida Complex League Red Sox and Salem Red Sox. He pitched 2023 with the Salem Red Sox and 2024 with Salem and Greenville Drive.

On December 11, 2024 the Red Sox traded Rodriguez-Cruz to the New York Yankees for Carlos Narváez.[112]

Brock Selvidge

Selvidge attended Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. As a junior in 2020, he was named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Arizona.[113] Selvidge was drafted by the New York Yankees in the third round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.[114][115] He signed with the Yankees rather than playing college baseball at Louisiana State University (LSU), and made his professional debut that season with the Florida Complex League Yankees.

He pitched 2022 with the FCL Yankees and played 2023 with Tampa Tarpons before being promoted to the Hudson Valley Renegades.

Cam Schlittler

Schlittler attended Walpole High School in Walpole, Massachusetts and played college baseball at Northeastern University.[116] In 2021, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[117] He was selected by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[118][119]

Schlittler spent his first professional season in 2023 with the Florida Complex League Yankees, Tampa Tarpons and Hudson Valley Renegades. He started 2024 with Hudson Valley and was promoted to the Somerset Patriots during the season and pitched one game with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders. That season he was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year.[120]

Cade Smith

Trystan Vrieling

Vrieling grew up in Kennewick, Washington and attended Kamiakin High School.[123] He was named the Mid-Columbia Conference Pitcher of the Year as a senior.[124]

Vrieling played college baseball at Gonzaga Bulldogs for three seasons. He made five appearances during his freshman season and had a 1.08 ERA in 8+13 innings pitched. As a sophomore, Vrieling had a 1–3 record with a 3.88 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 48+23 innings pitched over 22 appearances.[125] He moved to the Bulldogs' starting rotation prior to the start of his junior season and went 4–4 with a 4.91 ERA and 107 strikeouts.[126] In 2021, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[127]

Vrieling was selected in the third round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees.[128] He signed with the team on July 28, 2022, and received a $611,400 signing bonus.[129] Vrieling was placed on the 60-day injured list at the beginning of the 2023 season after suffering an elbow injury during spring training.[130]
