Matthew Allan

Matthew Bruce Allan (born April 17, 2001) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Allan attended Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. During his senior year, he threw a perfect game in which he struck out 17 batters.[1] He was named the 2019 Florida High School Player of the Year by Perfect Game.[2] Allan committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida.[3][4]

Allan was drafted by the New York Mets in the third round with the 89th overall selection in the 2019 Major League Baseball draft.[5] He was considered a top prospect for the draft, but fell due to his strong commitment to Florida.[6][7] He signed for $2.5 million, the richest deal ever for a third round selection.[7][8] He made his professional debut with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets before being promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League. Over 10+13 innings between both teams, he went 1–0 with a 2.61 ERA and 14 strikeouts.[9] He did not play a minor league game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.[10]

On May 7, 2021, it was announced that Allan would require Tommy John surgery, causing him to miss the 2021 season.[11] He underwent a cleanup procedure in January 2022, and missed the 2022 season as well.

On February 4, 2023, it was announced that Allan had undergone UCL revision surgery in January, and would likely miss the 2023 season, his fourth consecutive season with no game action.[12]

Jesús Báez

Báez signed with the New York Mets as an international free agent in January 2022.[13] He made his professional debut that season with the Dominican Summer League Mets.

Báez played 2023 with the Florida Complex League Mets and 2024 with the St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones.[14][15]

Ryan Clifford

Clifford attended Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, before transferring to Crossroads Flex High School in Cary, North Carolina.[16] He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 11th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[17] He signed with the Astros rather than play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.[18]

Clifford spent his first professional season with the Florida Complex League Astros and Fayetteville Woodpeckers. He started 2023 with Fayetteville.[19]

On August 1, 2023, Clifford was traded alongside Drew Gilbert, to the New York Mets in exchange for Justin Verlander.[20]

Corey Collins

Collins attended North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia. As a junior, Collins hit .483 with 16 home runs, before committing to play college baseball at the University of Georgia.[21][22]

As a senior, Collins hit .354 with 20 home runs, in addition to leading the NCAA in on-base percentage.[23] He was named a second-team All-American at the end of the season.[24]

Collins was selected in the sixth round, with the 173rd overall pick, by the New York Mets in the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.[25][26]

A. J. Ewing

Ewing attended Springboro High School in Springboro, Ohio. He was selected by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[27] Ewing signed with the Mets and made his professional debut that year with the Florida Complex League Mets.[28]

Ewing started 2024 with the FCL Mets and St. Lucie Mets and started 2025 with the St. Lucie before being promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones in May.[29]

Dominic Hamel

Hamel attended Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, and played college baseball at Yavapai College and Dallas Baptist University. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the third round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.[30]

Hamel made his professional debut with the Florida Complex League Mets. He started 2022 with the St. Lucie Mets before being promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones.[31][32]

Ryan Lambert

Lambert attended Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and played college baseball at North Iowa Area Community College, Missouri State University and the University of Oklahoma. He was selected by the New York Mets in the eighth round of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.[33]

Lambert made his professional debut with Brooklyn Cyclones and started 2025 with Brooklyn before being promoted to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.[34]

Nick Morabito

Morabito attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.. As a senior in 2022, he was the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Washington, D.C.[35] Morabito was selected by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[36] He signed with the Mets rather than play college baseball at Virginia Tech.[37]

Morabito made his professional debut with the Florida Complex League Mets. He played 2023 with the Florida Complex League Mets and St. Lucie Mets and started 2024 with St. Lucie.

Jacob Reimer

Reimer attended Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, California.[38] He was drafted by the New York Mets in the fourth round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut that year with the Florida Complex League Mets.[39]

In 2023, Reimer played for the Florida Complex League Mets, St. Lucie Mets and Brooklyn Cyclones.[40]

Tong attended Bill Crothers High School in Markham, Ontario. He was selected by the New York Mets in the seventh round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[41][42]

Tong signed with the Mets and spent his first professional season with the Florida Complex League Mets and St. Lucie Mets. He started 2024 with St. Lucie before being promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones.[43][44]

Jack Wenninger

Jonathan Andrew Wenninger (born March 14, 2002) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Wenninger attended Cary-Grove High School in Cary, Illinois, and played college baseball at Murray State University and the University of Illinois.[45] As a junior at Illinois in 2023, he started 14 games and went 6-4 with a 4.71 ERA over 80+13 innings. After the season, he was selected by the New York Mets in the sixth round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[46] He signed with the team for $225,000.[47]

Wenninger made his professional debut after signing and played the Florida Complex League Mets and St. Lucie Mets, appearing in two games total. He returned to St. Lucie to open the 2024 season and was promoted to the Brooklyn Cyclones in early July. Over 25 games (19 starts) between both teams, he pitched to a 4-6 record, a 4.30 ERA, and 140 strikeouts over 115 innings.[48] Wenninger was assigned to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to start the 2025 season and was named the team's Opening Day starter.[49]

Calvin Ziegler

Calvin William Ziegler (born October 3, 2002) is a Canadian professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization.

Ziegler was born in Canada and attended TNXL Academy in Ocoee, Florida, his senior year due to Canadian travel restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[50][51] He was drafted by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.[52]

Ziegler made his professional debut in 2022 with the St. Lucie Mets.[53] In 16 starts, he went 0–6 with a 4.44 ERA and 70 strikeouts across 46+23 innings pitched.

In March 2023, Ziegler underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow.[54] While recovering from the procedure, he suffered a torn right quadriceps tendon and was ruled out for the season.[55][56] However, on September 8, Ziegler was activated to make his season debut.[57]

Ziegler began the 2024 season with High-A Brooklyn. On April 18, 2024, it was revealed that Ziegler would undergo Tommy John surgery, ending his season.[58]
