Mokshansky District

Mokshansky District (Russian: Мокша́нский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,200 square kilometers (850 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Mokshan.[1] Population: 28,033 (2010 Census);[3] 30,929 (2002 Census);[7] 33,008 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Mokshan accounts for 41.4% of the district's total population.[3]
