Early life
Berisha was born in Münsingen, Switzerland to Kosovar Albanian parents from Kaçanik.[2] He started playing football at the age of five.[3]
Club career
As a youth player, Berisha joined the youth academy of Italian side Lecce, where he was regarded as one of the club's most important players.[4] In the 2024–2025 season, he made 12 appearances for Lecce's Serie A matches and played 523 minutes. He started in six of the matches in the playing and XI and came off the bench in six other matches. He made his debut in a Serie A match on 25 February 2024 and played his last match on 29 March 2025, versus Roma. In his overall Serie A career, he played 18 games with one assist and no goals.[5][6]
International career
Berisha was called up by the Albania U19 squad, however after having bureaucratic difficulties of retrieving the Albanian passport, he switched alliances to Kosova, making a few appearances for the Kosova U21 side.[7] After all the citizenship problems with Albania were resolved, Albania U21 coach Alban Bushi offered Berisha the captaincy, which he accepted, representing Albania in the qualification for 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
On 27 May 2024, Berisha was called up to the preliminary UEFA Euro 2024 Albanian squad by Sylvinho.[8] He made his debut on 3 June in a 3–0 win against Liechtenstein, coming on as a 74th minute substitute to replace Jasir Asani.[9]
Style of play
Berisha's natural position is central midfielder but he can also play as a left winger and is known for his passing ability.[10][11]
Personal life
Berisha received an Albanian passport in August 2023.[12]
