Publication history
Max Modell first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #648 (January 2011), and was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.
Fictional character biography
Max Modell is the CEO of Horizon Labs, who gets Peter Parker a job there after he shuts down Sanjani Jaffrey's out-of-control machine. When the Hobgoblin attacks Horizon, Spider-Man saves Modell from him.[1]
In later appearances, Modell assists Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic, and Yuri Watanabe, among others, in fighting crime.[2]
"Ends of the Earth" reveals that Modell is gay and in a relationship with Horizon Labs lawyer Hector Baez.[3] In "All-New, All-Different Marvel", Spider-Man employs the two at Parker Industries.[4]
In "Go Down Swinging", Modell accepts a job application at Horizon University under the alias Elliot Tolliver.[5]
Other versions
In the Age of Ultron universe (Earth-61112), Max Modell was killed by Ultron.[6]
In other media
- Max Modell appears in Spider-Man (2017), voiced by Fred Tatasciore.[7][8] This version is Horizon High's headmaster who is aware of Spider-Man's secret identity and created the Anti-Venom symbiote.
- Max Modell appears in the Guardians of the Galaxy episode "Drive My Carnage", voiced again by Fred Tatasciore.[8]
