Notes

  1. While by the conventional numbering of U.S. presidents there have been 47 presidents, only 45 individuals have held the office. Grover Cleveland and Donald Trump, the only two to serve non-consecutive terms, are counted twice – Cleveland as the 22nd and the 24th president and Trump as 45th and the 47th).
  2. The five living presidents (in order of birth) are: Joe Biden (November 20, 1942), Donald Trump (June 14, 1946), George W. Bush (July 6, 1946), Bill Clinton (August 19, 1946) and Barack Obama (August 4, 1961).
