List of Code Geass episodes

Code Geass (Japanese: コードギアス, Hepburn: Kōdo Giasu) is a Japanese anime series produced by Sunrise, Mainichi Broadcasting System, and Project Geass.^[1] The first season, entitled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu), premiered on Mainichi Broadcasting System on October 6, 2006, and was broadcast by a total of ten stations.^[2] Its final two episodes were aired on July 29, 2007.^[3] It was followed by Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ R2, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu R2) which aired on April 6, 2008, and was broadcast on sixteen stations.^[4] Its final episode aired on September 28, 2008.^[5]

Since its premiere in Japan, Lelouch of the Rebellion and R2 were licensed by Bandai Entertainment and dubbed by ZRO Limit Productions.^[6][7] Lelouch of the Rebellion premiered on Adult Swim on April 27, 2008, and R2 on November 2, 2008.^[8][9] The two seasons were then distributed by Beez Entertainment and Kazé in the United Kingdom and licensed by Madman Entertainment in Australia.^[10][11][12] Both seasons have also received localizations in other languages such as French, German, Italian, and Tagalog.

Following Lelouch of the Rebellion and R2 were four individual original video animations (OVA), and an OVA series titled Code Geass: Akito the Exiled (コードギアス 亡国のアキト, Kōdo Giasu: Bōkoku no Akito).

Lelouch, wishing to make Nunnally happy, casts her as Alice in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and has everyone he knows play the supporting roles while he narrates. After Nunnally traverses the world, she is guided back to reality by Suzaku who is acting the role of the White Knight. At the end, the cast takes revenge on Lelouch for forcing them into the play by dressing him up as The Hatter. At the end, it is revealed Lelouch is just dreaming.

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is a series of side-story OVAs that canonically take place between both seasons of Code Geass.

2017 a.t.b. (Revolutionary Year 228), the war between Euro Britannia and the European Union (E.U.) continues. At a disadvantage, the E.U. army founded a special team consisting of Elevens—exiled Japanese who had their country occupied by Britannia—known as the W-0 Unit; one of these Elevens, Akito Hyuga, fights with great agility and savagely executes the enemy while apparently under the power of Geass. Elsewhere, Military Advisor Julius Kingsley and Knight of Seven Suzaku Kururugi are traveling by train to St. Petersburg.

The new members of the W-0 unit attempt to desert, but this is prevented by Akito and Leila. The team (with Leila joining them) is then sent behind enemy lines to the city of Slonim, where they are ambushed by Euro Britannian forces led by Shin, Akito's brother. Akito, Leila, and the three Japanese recruits manage to survive, as a result of the BRS synchronization phenomenon. Meanwhile, Suzaku Kururugi and Julius Kingsley have arrived in St. Petersburg from the Britannian mainland.

After the W-0 unit is denied access to head back to headquarters, they come across a group of elder gypsies who temporarily take them in; as they get along well, Akito and Leila reveal what happened when they were children and thus leading them to where they are now. Meanwhile, Julius Kingsley, revealed to be a brainwashed and dark side version of Lelouch Lamperouge, expresses his form of control as several leaders look on in awe and disgust.

While W-0 is away, Leila and the remaining crew at base find themselves surrounded by Britannian Knightmares. Piloting the Vercingetorix, Shin Hyuuga leads the enemy charge, having usurped the position of Grand Master in the Knights of St. Michael. With her core members unavailable, it's up to Leila to protect her comrades, but this may be much tougher than she realizes: a spy lurking among them is finally ready to reveal himself. Left with no choice but to surrender, Leila arranges a meeting with Shin in order to ensure the safety of her squad. But as negotiations begin to fall apart, Akito and an unexpected ally return in the nick of time to turn things around.

The Ark Fleet has been destroyed, and a significant number of the enemy's troops have been wiped out due to its crash landing. As the remaining forces of the Knights of St. Michael regroup in order to launch a final assault on Castle Weisswolf, the W-0, along with their new ally Ashley Ashra, stand ready to intercept them. Meanwhile, with his Geass out of control, Shin moves to erase his younger brother's existence once and for all. But Akito, having promised Leila that he will come back alive, refuses to accept such a fate, and the two clash in their final battle. After their victory against Shin's troops, Akito, Leila and the other members of the Wyvern Squad retire. Shortly after, a young man named Rolo rescues Suzaku and Lelouch from the Euro Britannnian prison and informs them that Emperor Charles zi Britannia requests a new audience with Lelouch/Julius Kingsley.

Walther decides to keep Sakura's identity secret out to loyalty to Sakuya's family. Meanwhile, Rozé pays a visit to the orphanage where Ash was raised and discovered that he and his brother were adopted by Norland and raised to work for him as assassins. After Norland kills his brother, Ash rebels and is arrested where he meets and befriends Sakuya's father, who dies while attempting to escape with Ash. After escaping, Ash met Sakuya, who used her Geass to make him protect her as she were the most important person to him, making him view her as his late brother. Bedridden with guilt, Rozé is captured by Christoph, who discovered the truth about her identity and her Geass.

Christoph maintains Sakuya imprisoned, intending to make experiments with her Geass. Meanwhile, the Neo Britannian Army storms the Seven Shining Stars hideout. The other resistance forces arrive to protect them, but their leaders end up sacrificing themselves to let the others escape. Amidst the battle, Ash fights Arnold, who was restored into a cyborg equipped with an Anti-Geass device that he uses to dispel the effects of Sakuya's Geass on him. Furious with Sakuya for impersonating his brother and using him, he leaves the battlefield and storms Christoph's lab. Ash fights and defeats Christoph, who flees and Sakuya apologizes to Ash for using him as he prepares himself to kill her.

Ash decides to spare Sakuya and keep working with her to liberate Hokkaido, following a promise he made with her father. Christoph kills himself to prevent being put under her Geass and Norland sends Narah as an ambassador to initiate peace talks with the United Federation of Nations. A few months later, large robotic units called Loki, invade countries around the world from the shore, killing all humans in sight and Narah realizes that it is a ploy by Norland. As the Black Knights are in disarray with the sudden attack, Rozé and Ash discover that their friends are also under attack by the same machines.

Norland seemingly disposes of Stanley who developed the Loki. All armies around the world desperately fight the robots while Sakuya and Ash take the opportunity to invade the palace in order to rescue Sakura. Walther and Sakura escape from the Loki through an underground tunnel with help from Catherine, who decides to stay behind. Sakuya invades Norland's office and discovers that the Loki were his creation. Arnold appears and challenges Ash to a duel. While Ash kills Arnold, Sakuya confronts Norland, who reveals himself as a clone of her grandfather, the former Britannian emperor Charles zi Britannia, created to be a new vessel for his mind, which was prevented with Charles' death. Since then all his actions so far were in preparation for his true objective which is the extermination of all humanity. Norland escapes by piloting his own Knightmare Frame, the Foulbout.

Ash boards Norland's floating fortress but Sakuya fails to catch up due to Situmpe barrier covering Hokkaido like a dome, she goes to Neo Britannia's govrement building and with the help of the Seven Shining Stars deactivates the Barrier. Stanely who is still alive, sends important data regarding the Loki to the Black Knight before dying which reveals that they need to destroy the Foulbout in order to stop them and Kaguya as well as Sakura unite the world against Norland. Catherine and Ash respectively fight Norland in their Knightmares but are easily overpowered due to Foulbout having been designed with the Situmpe system and are thrown overboard.

Sakuya saves Ash from falling and encourages him to let her fight Norland with him, Ash in turn asks her to use her Geass on her again to make sure he won't give up, while initialy struggling to find an opening, they eventually outmaneuver and mortally wound Norland, who activates Foulbout's self-destruct before dying, with Ash sacrificing himself so Sakuya's Knightmare has enough energy to return to the surface. After the battle, the world is safe but is recovering from the ordeal, while Sakuya becomes empress and uses her Geass on herself to never use it again.
