Career

Perspective

Early television career (2015–2018)

In 2015, Lakshya made his acting debut with the television series Warrior High.[3] His television debut went unnoticed, and he followed this with the role of Yuvraj Madhav Shekhawat/Krish in the &TV series supernatural series Adhuri Kahaani Hamari (2015–2016) and appeared in an episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.[4]

In November 2016, Lakshya joined Ekta Kapoor's StarPlus romantic drama series Pardes Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2016–2017) in the supporting role of Veer Mehra, which proved to be his first big break.[5][6] He finally gained popularity for his portrayal of the titular warrior, Porus the Elder in the historical TV show Porus (2017–2018), which is rumoured as India's most expensive television series with a budget of 500 crore.[7][better source needed]

Film struggles and breakthrough (2019–present)

In 2019, Lakshya signed a three-film deal with Karan Johar of Dharma Productions, giving a greenlight to his expansion in Hindi cinema.[8] He officially announced his film debut with Johar's production Dostana 2 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor, which went on floors in late-2019, but hit a production hell due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and was finally shelved in April 2021 out of creative differences between Johar and Aaryan.[9][10] In March 2022, he joined Shanaya Kapoor and Gurfateh Pirzada in Johar's romantic drama Bedhadak directed by Shashank Khaitan, but that film too was shelved, continuing the jeopardy in Lakshya's film debut.[11][12]

Lakshya had his first film release in Dharma Productions' action film Kill. It premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and was theatrically released the following year to largely positive reviews, emerging as his breakthrough role.[13] He played Amrit, a stoic army man who has to fight off dacoits in a running train. Barry Hertz of The Globe and Mail wrote that he "conjures the hero with frightening ferocity".[14]

Lakshya will next star in Aryan Khan's streaming series The Ba***ds of Bollywood,[15] and the romance Chand Mera Dil alongside Ananya Panday.[16]
