Komaralingam is a town located in the Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located at a distance of 8 km from Madathukulam, 16 km from Udumalaipettai, 22 km from Palani, 85 km from Coimbatore and 79 km from Tiruppur.

History

The town was earlier known as "Kumana mangalam "and later "Kumana-lingam",named after the chieftain Kumanan who is believed to have ruled the region between Palani and Udumalaipettai.[1]

Administration

Komaralingam is administered by a Town Panchayat.[2] It is a part of Madathukulam taluk in Tiruppur District. The town panchayat comprises 15 wards after the delimitation prior to the 2022 Tamil Nadu local elections. Of the 15 wards, 4 wards (Ward No: 1, 2, 14 and 15) are reserved for Schedule Caste.

Komaralingam Town Panchayat is divided into two Revenue Villages such as;

  • Komaralingam West

  • Komaralingam had a population of 13,642 as per the 2011 Census,[3] out of which 6,791 are males while 6,851 are females in the town.
