Chakravarthi is a film director who, unknown to himself, has a lookalike. The lookalike, villager Pachaiyappan, is good for nothing and is in love with his cross-cousin. Chakravarthi is married to a devout, pious, orthodox wife who never lets him near her due to her religious resolutions. This results in him having an affair, which leads to him being blackmailed.
