Infobip was established by Silvio Kutić, Roberto Kutić and Izabel Jelenić in the Croatian city of Vodnjan in 2006.[9][10] Before founding Infobip, Silvio Kutić created Virtual Community, that allowed group communication via web, email, and SMS, with the first message sent as a Christmas text from Vodnjan's town hall to its diaspora. Realizing the technology wasn't scalable, he developed a communications API platform, leading to the creation of Infobip.[11][12]

In 2014 and 2015, the company started its operations in Latin America and Asia-Pacific.[13][14][15]

In 2020, Infobip raised $200 million from One Equity Partners. Infobip's valuation thus surpassed $1 billion, making it the first Croatian unicorn company.[7][16] During the same year, Infobip acquired OpenMarket, a company headquartered in Seattle, United States.[17]

In 2021, Infobip acquired Shift Conference, a tech conference franchise with experience in creating and producing technology conferences in multiple industry verticals such as Software Development, Fin-Tech, and Artificial Intelligence.[18]

In July 2022, Infobip finalized its acquisition of Peerless Network, a U.S.-based telecommunications provider founded in 2008.[19] Infobip's revenue reached €1.55 billion in 2022 and €1.735 billion in 2023.[20] The company's global communications platform handles 453 billion interactions per year, or 37 billion per month, with 301 billion being SMS interactions.[21] During Cyber Week 2024, Infobip saw a 41% increase in total interactions, growing from 8.2 billion in 2023 to 11.6 billion in 2024.[22][23][24]

In May 2023, Infobip was named a leader in the IDC MarketScape CPaaS Vendor Assessment.[25] In July (2023), the company was recognized as a leader in the Juniper Customer Data Platform Leaderboard.[26] In September 2023, Infobip was named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS)[27] and as a leader in the Conversational Commerce Leaderboard in October.[28] In November 2023, Omdia ranked Infobip as a leader in its CPaaS Universe Report for the second consecutive year.[29] In December 2023, Infobip was included in the top CPaaS provider in the inaugural MetriRank CPaaS Report[30] and also named a leader in the CCaaS Leaderboard by Juniper Research.[31]

In March 2024, Infobip was named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies[32] and as a leader in the CPaaS Leaderboard, Juniper Research.[33]  

In June 2024, Infobip was named a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) 2024 for the second year running.[34] In October 2024, Juniper Research recognized Infobip as the number one provider in the AIT Fraud Prevention market.[35]  

In November 2024, Infobip was ranked one of the top 3 most innovative companies in retail in Fast Company Middle East’s Most Innovative Companies 2024 list,[36] and Juniper Research ranked Infobip number one among Established Leaders in RCS Business Messaging.[37]

In December 2024, Infobip was named one of the top CPaaS providers in Metrigy’s CPaaS MetriRank Report for the third time.[38] In February 2025, Infobip was named a Leader for the third time in the IDC MarketScape,[39] and Infobip was named an Ecosystem Leader in the Ecosystem Compass 2025.[40]

Infobip Startup Tribe

Sinse 2023, Infobip supports more than 300 startups with €1.8 million through the Infobip Startup Tribe, a global perks program supporting startups and providing them with tools and resources to help their growth.[41]

Campuses

In September 2017, the company opened its first high-tech campus, named Pangea, built on 17,000 square meters of land in Vodnjan, Croatia.[42]

In 2022, Infobip opened its second campus in Zagreb, called Alpha Centauri, designed by 3LHD architectural firm.[43] The 20,000 square meter Alpha Centauri campus, which was named after the star system closest to Earth, is located near Zagreb's Sveta Klara and Remetinec neighborhoods.[43]
