Gameplay

Perspective

Format

Presented with a group of seven "mystery singers", the guest artist(s) and a group of two contestants must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of five rounds. At the end of a game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[4][5]

If the last remaining mystery singer is good, the contestants win 2,500; this is also applied to the winning bad singer selected by them.

Rounds

Visual round

  • First impression (Dutch: Eerste indruk)
s1–3: The guest artist and contestants are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance.

Lip sync round

  • Lip sync (Dutch: Lipsynchronisatie)
s1–3: Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song; good singers mime to a recording of their own, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else.

Evidence round

  • Test picture (Dutch: Testbeeld)
s1–3: The guest artist and contestants are presented with a video package containing possible clues by one of the mystery singers.

Rehearsal round

  • Sound box (Dutch: Klankkast)
s1–3: The guest artist and contestants are presented with video from a recording session by one of the mystery singers, but pitch-shifted to obscure their actual vocals.

Interrogation round

  • Interrogation (Dutch: De ondervraging)
s1–3: The guest artist and contestants may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.

Background

Following the successful broadcasts of The Masked Singer, DPG Media formally acquired the rights to produce a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice in Belgium (catering the Dutch-speaking community) in March 2021, including with production duties assigned by Warner Bros. International Television Production.[6][7]

Filming of the show took place at VTM Studios in Vilvoorde.[8]

Broadcast history

I Can See Your Voice debuted on 26 March 2022.[2][3] During its first season airings, the series was already renewed for a second season[9] that premiered on 2 September 2022, but it was prematurely ended on 23 September 2022; its remaining episodes would begin airing a separate third season on 5 May 2023.[a] A day after its finale, the series was renewed for a fourth season.[16]

Notes

  1. The 2nd season was initially a "single season" with 8 episodes, and a tentative [8th episode] finale on 21 October 2023.[10] Suddenly, the 8th season premiere of The Voice van Vlaanderen on 30 September 2022[11] caused the season to split into two, with the first half (as the proper 2nd season) on 2 September 2022,[12][13] and the second half (as a separate 3rd season) on 5 May 2023.[14][15]
  2. These are the list of foreign panelist(s) having assigned for the show:
    • Netherlands — Jake Reese (1 szn: 4)
  3. This refers to the guest artist(s) that have played in according only to their first game(s); returning guest artists (which also include foreigners or former good singers, with their names displaying in italics) did not count.
  4. For the show's overall highlights:
    • Jake Reese (s3 ep. 3) also returned on his 2nd game as a foreigner,[24] when he last played for the Dutch 3rd season.[25]
  5. These are the list of foreign guest artist(s) having played for the show:
    • Netherlands — Gers Pardoel (s1 ep. 4)[23] and Jake Reese (s3 ep. 3)[d]
  6. Despite not singing, they were still counted as guest artists.
