Bio

Perspective

HUMBE was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. He began singing and playing the piano at the age of 9 at his grandmother's house in Chihuahua. From that moment on, he expanded his learning to other instruments such as the guitar, drums, and ukulele.[7]

2017–2019: Sonámbulo

In 2016, he began recording Sonámbulo, his debut album, with the producer Neto Gracia.[8][9] On 12 December 2017, he released his first Christmas single, "Todo lo que quiero eres tú" (All I Want for Christmas Is You), a version of Mariah Carey's song recorded by Neto Gracia at Noise Match and Chacha's Room studios in Monterrey.[10]

On 17 August 2018, he released "Te Quiero Aquí Ya", a song he composed and produced himself alongside Meny Méndez and the members of La Roca Sound Lab. The following year, he released "Toma mi Mano". He performed at the Billboard Latin Music Showcase in Mexico City in November 2019.[11]

2020–2022: Soy Humbe, Entropía and Aurora

In 2020, he released his first EP titled Soy Humbe, which included 6 songs accompanied by live acoustic videos.[citation needed]

Soon after, he signed with Sony Music Entertainment Mexico and began working on his second studio album, Entropía, which was digitally released on 12 March 2021. The album featured the singles "El Poeta" and "Te Conocí en Japón." In July, the album was released in physical format in Mixup stores, and he won the award for Best New Artist at the MTV MIAW Awards.[12] For this recording, he received a nomination for the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist.[13]

In the same year, on 11 November 2021, he released Aurora, his third studio album consisting of 13 tracks written and produced entirely by himself and his brother, Emiliano Rodríguez.[14] On 12 March 2022, during a live stream, he announced his first tour, the El Poeta Tour 2022.[15]

2023–present: Esencia

On 9 February 2023, Humbe surprised his fans with the release of "Sanvalentín", the lead single from his highly anticipated fourth studio album titled Esencia. The album was released on 22 March and is considered his most personal album to date. In his own words, the entire album is about the construction and deconstruction of his essence, about that story he talks about, the story that led him through the years to build this. The 11 tracks precisely tell anecdotes he went through, which is why it's his most personal album. The album cover, titled "El Poeta", is the work of Cuban artist Reynier Llanes.[16] Humbe later announced the Esencia Tour.[17]
