A critic from The Times of India rated the film three-and-a-half out of five stars and wrote that "There are many other similarities too. Debutant director Ohmkkar has reason to celebrate as his movie does hit the nail on the head".[5] A critic from 123telugu rated the film two-and-three-quarters out of five and wrote that "Genius is a movie that has been let down by bad execution".[6]
