Depozitarul Central (lit. 'central depository') is the main central securities depository of Romania, headquartered in Bucharest. As of late 2021, the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) held 69.04 percent of Depozitarul Central's equity capital.[1]: 59
Overview
On 11 May 2006, the BVB acquired control of Regisco,[1]: 38 which it renamed as Depozitarul Central on 3 January 2007.[2]
In June 2015, Depozitarul Central connected to TARGET2-Securities (T2S), the Eurosystem's securities settlement platform, as part of the first wave of CSDs connecting to T2S.[3]
