The Snake name of the bridge is a double entendre, as Cykelslangen is also the Danish word for a bicycle hose or a bike's inner tube, which, to Danish eyes at least, is said to resemble a snake.
The bridge was designed by Dissing+Weitling and opened to the public on 28 June 2014. The project cost 32 million Danish krone ($5.74 million).[1]
