Contra Costa Centre is an unincorporated community and census-designated place[3] in Contra Costa County, California. Contra Costa Centre sits at an elevation of 92 feet (28 m). The 2010 United States census reported Contra Costa Centre's population was 5,364, while the 2020 census figure was 6,808. Contra Costa Centre is served by the Pleasant Hill / Contra Costa Centre BART station.

It is the successor to the Waldon CDP of the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.642 square miles (1.662 km2), all of it land.

The 2020 United States census reported that Contra Costa Centre had a population of 6,808. The population density was 10,687.6 inhabitants per square mile (4,126.5/km2). The racial makeup of Contra Costa Centre was 50.3% White, 4.9% African American, 0.5% Native American, 27.0% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 5.1% from other races, and 11.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.2% of the population.
The census reported that 99.8% of the population lived in households, 0.2% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.
There were 3,507 households, out of which 18.6% included children under the age of 18, 36.7% were married-couple households, 10.6% were cohabiting couple households, 28.4% had a female householder with no partner present, and 24.3% had a male householder with no partner present. 39.5% of households were one person, and 7.2% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 1.94. There were 1,650 families (47.0% of all households).
The age distribution was 13.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% aged 18 to 24, 48.8% aged 25 to 44, 21.1% aged 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34.6 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.2 males.
There were 3,799 housing units at an average density of 5,963.9 units per square mile (2,302.7 units/km2), of which 3,507 (92.3%) were occupied. Of these, 21.8% were owner-occupied, and 78.2% were occupied by renters.[20][21]
Education
Much of Contra Costa Centre is in the Walnut Creek Elementary School District and the Acalanes Union High School District. Other parts are in the K-12 Mount Diablo Unified School District.[22]
