Chalcothea smaragdina can reach a length of 27–30 millimetres (1.1–1.2 in).[3] The body is oblong, with distinct "neck" between head and pronotum. Elytra are metallic green and much broader than pronotum.
This species is present in Southeast Asia (Indonesia and Malaysia).[4]
