Brok Harris

Juan "Brok" Harris (born 22 February 1985) is a South African rugby union player. He matriculated from Hoërskool Bastion in Krugersdorp, after which he attended Potchefstroom University. He plays as a prop for the Stormers having returned from the Welsh Pro14 side Dragons where he played between 2014 and 2021. He previously played for the Stormers in Super Rugby and Western Province in the Currie Cup.^[1]

Harris can play on both sides of the scrum, and, in 2017, he had spent the required three years in Wales to qualify for the Welsh national side on residency grounds.

Return to South Africa and URC Victory

In a remarkable late-career moment, Harris returned to the Stormers in 2021 as a short-term injury replacement during the inaugural United Rugby Championship season. At 36, he was expected to offer depth and experience. Instead, he became a crucial part of the squad that went on to win the 2021–22 URC title, defeating the Bulls in the final and delivering Western Province’s first major franchise trophy in over a decade.

His return was hailed as symbolic of his enduring quality and loyalty to his home union. It also marked a fitting high point near the close of an exceptional playing career.

Style of Play

Harris was known primarily for his strength in the scrum, versatility on both sides of the front row, and high work rate. His contribution to set-piece stability and forward dominance was widely respected by coaches and teammates alike.

Personal Life

Nicknamed "Brok" due to his formidable frame and almost looking like WWE Wrestler Brock Lesnar, Harris is known for his humble personality and strong Christian faith. Off the field, he has been involved in mentoring younger players and is widely regarded as a role model in the rugby community. Known as a devoted family man, Harris is married to Madelein Harris and together they have three children.

Brok Harris is celebrated as one of the most consistent and committed front-row forwards of his generation. With a professional career spanning over 19 years across two hemispheres, his longevity, leadership, and quiet excellence have left a lasting impression on the clubs he served and the teammates who played alongside him.
